The Faces & Paws Behind the Pack
Melissa Lindsay
CEO of The Bark Society 914I'm a Westchester native, dog lover, and the person behind The Bark Society — but really, it all started with Baby.
When Baby came into my life, everything changed. She gave me a reason to get up in the morning, filled my life with a kind of love only dog people truly understand, and opened the door to a whole new world. From rooftop wine nights with friends and their dogs to finding our place in a new community, Baby showed me just how much life can grow around the love we have for our dogs.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I didn't just want to be part of that community. I wanted to create one.
With a background in event planning and marketing, I've always believed that the little details make the biggest difference. To me, an event is never just an event. It's the atmosphere, the thoughtful touches, the unexpected moments, and the feeling you leave with. I wanted to bring that same level of intention to the dog-loving community — creating experiences that feel special, elevated, and just as much for the humans as they are for their four-legged companions.
Because let's be honest: if our dogs are getting the fancy treats, the good food, and all the love in the world, shouldn't we get a little spoiled, too?
The Bark Society is my way of bringing all of that together — connecting dogs and their people, celebrating the local community, and creating a pack that makes life with our dogs even more meaningful.
Baby brought me to my pack. Now, I'm building one for all of us.
Mommy rescued me from Paws Crossed and now I'm living the penthouse life. Shoutout to Mommy and Daddy Josh for keeping me spoiled with fancy treats, good food, and absolutely no boundaries.
I'm a rescue mutt with a BIG personality. I love my best frens, BALLS (BALL IS LIFE), showing off my tricks, and chewing up Uggs. Sorry, Mom. No regrets.
I'm the reason Mommy started The Bark Society, and while she may be the founder, I'm obviously the star of the show.

A little more about us.
Created for the love of dogs. Built for the community.
The Bark Society was created with one simple idea in mind: life with a dog is better when it's shared.
We're (the first !!) modern dog social club rooted in Westchester, NY, bringing together dogs and their people through local meetups, dog-friendly experiences, community connections, and the places and products that make life with our four-legged friends even better.
Whether you're new to the neighborhood, looking to meet fellow dog parents, searching for your next dog-friendly spot, or simply want to give your pup more opportunities to socialize, there's a place for you here.
Our mission
To create a community where dogs and their people can connect beyond the everyday walk around the block. We bring the local dog-loving community together while celebrating the businesses, experiences, and little moments that make life with dogs so special.
What we're all about
The meetups. Bringing our pack together for social gatherings, seasonal events, and experiences that are just as fun for the humans as they are for the dogs.
The community. Connecting dog parents, introducing new friends, and making sure there's always a pack to turn to.
The local favorites. Discovering and celebrating dog-friendly businesses, products, and places worth sharing.
The lifestyle. Because life with a dog isn't just about having a pet. It's about the routines, adventures, friendships, and memories that come with them.
And this is just the beginning.
The Bark Society is growing, and we're building something special — one meetup, one new friendship, and one wagging tail at a time.
We're so glad you're here. Welcome to the pack.
